In today's changing economy, many consumers are looking for luxury gifts that won't break their pocketbooks. I believe this will be especially true for the holiday season this year. A luxury gift can be anything that a person doesn't find absolutely necessary .....often elegant items that would give pleasure without costing a fortune like candles and spa products made with only the finest ingredients. Some say that flavors in the food and beverage markets are entering into the personal care markets and will be very significant this year ..we are already carrying a couple of those scents..Pomegranate, and Acai Berry which seem to be becoming more popular in the last couple of months ...also Ginger blends.
The new site for the natural and organic lines is up and running. There are just a few more pictures and products to add...so stop by and take a look ...www.basicandnatural.com If you don't want to private label these lines we do have a branded line available Natural Elements with very attractive green and brown packaging.
I've been reading alot the last month and thought I'd share some interesting information in this month's newsletter.
From the June 2008 issue of Happi "of the 11 billion personal care products that are sold annually, an average of less than 150 adverse reactions are reported-most of which are minor skin irritations. Topically-applied and not ingested, cosmetics have theleast potential to impact human health of any FDA-regulated product category, according to the Council. (Personal Care Products Council)
Here are a few more details about the natural products industry I read in the natural food merchandiser June 2008 issue ..."Natural and organic personal care product sales grew 12.7 percent to more than $3 billion in 2007. The natural products industry grew 9.8 percent in 2007 to more than $62 billion in sales (realize that this is for all products not just personal care). Natural retailers' growth was smaller at 8.5 percent, behind mass-market growth of 13.4 percent. In other channels, growth varied dramatically-Internet sales grew 29 percent while mail-order sales grew just 3.9 percent. Natural products retails again made up just slightly less than 50 percent of total industry sales in a year during which mass marketers, Internet sellers and prectioners increased their shares. Convential grocers launching private-label brands and wholeheartedly embracing the natural and organic trend were the primary force that moosted mass-market sales to more than $20 billion. Natural and organic personal care and other household products also fared well in the mass market, growing 45 percent. "
The importance of Ingredients. Good private label starts and depends upon good ingredients. Without the finest raw ingredients we cannot make our customers and their clients happy. We are always sourcing ingredients. It's a real challenge maintaining a steady stream of the finest ingredients in this economy. Many of our competitors raised all their products 12 to 20% across the board around May or June. We are trying to only raise the price on products that have increased ingredient costs to give our clients the very best pricing possible. Another challenge is to always have good packaging and new good product ideas. Sometime in August our diffuser containers and boxes will finally be arriving after months of search for the best combination. Attractive square bottles with a collar, and tall boxes about 3 x 3 by 12. The boxes will be available in a couple of standard colors, and more colors by special order. SugarBubble Scrub will also be available starting in August. Many of our spas have been in need of a scrub especially for pedicures that has a glycerin base instead of our oil base, and we've finally created one. August coupon AUG200810 is good on your order of $100 or more.for a $10 savings.
We carry no shelf stock and custom make each order. Therefore, all orders should allow 12 to 18 business days for turn around time from start to finish. As these are custom orders you will be charged for your order when order is placed. Shipping charges will be processed when your order is shipped.
"Samples" will go out immediate as we do keep these on hand for companies that want to learn about our products.
